In response to the project’s main challenge, which is to create a new entrance for a church transformed into a theatre, the proposal involves a re-imagining of the grand main staircase as an internalised public square. The goal is to preserve the staircase, which is very much loved by the community, and which successfully acts as a theatre in its own right. The project embodies the idea of continuity between our built heritage and the future developments.
